Starter Ring Gear

The starter ring gear is a crucial component in a vehicle’s starting system. It is a toothed ring typically attached to the flywheel or flexplate of the engine. When the ignition key is turned, the starter motor engages the starter ring gear, which allows the engine to begin turning over. As the starter motor’s gear (often called the pinion gear) meshes with the teeth of the starter ring gear, it rotates the flywheel, initiating the engine’s cycle and starting the combustion process.
